As the mama of 2 small people with a busy health

coachIng practise, I know how it feels to be constantly on-the-go, the juggle & feeling of overwhelm is real! That's why I've made it a priority to incorporate energy-boosting practices into my daily routine. From breathwork to giving back, there are many effective ways to recharge your body and mind. In this article, I'll share six of my top tips for boosting your energy and living a more balanced life.

The importance of energy-boosting

We all know that feeling of being exhausted, drained, and unmotivated. The overwhelm of being the glue that holds everything and everyone together is real. I see you Mamas. Whether it's from a long day at work (paid or unpaid), a lack of quality sleep, or life's daily stressors, low energy can take a toll on our productivity and overall well-being. That's why it's so important to prioritize energy-boosting practices in our daily lives.

When we have more energy, we can focus better, accomplish more, and feel happier and more fulfilled. Plus, we're more likely to take care of ourselves and make healthy choices when we're feeling energized and motivated. So, let's dive into some effective strategies for boosting our energy levels.

Harnessing the power of your breath

One of the most powerful energy-boosting practices I've found is breathwork. Simply focusing on your breath can help you feel more centered, calm, and energized. One technique I like to use is called the 4-7-8 breath. Here's how it works:

  1. Sit comfortably with your back straight and your feet on the ground.

  2. Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whooshing sound.

  3. Close your mouth and inhale through your nose for a count of 4.

  4. Hold your breath for a count of 7.

  5. Exhale through your mouth for a count of 8, making a whooshing sound.

  6. Repeat this cycle three more times, for a total of four breaths.

By focusing on your breath and practicing this technique regularly, you can reduce stress, calm your nervous system, and boost your energy levels.

Exercise: Get your body moving

Another powerful way to boost your energy is through exercise. When you move your body, you increase blood flow, release endorphins, and improve your overall mood and energy levels. Even just a quick 10-minute walk can make a big difference in how you feel.

If you're not sure where to start, try incorporating some simple exercises into your daily routine. You can do squats while brushing your teeth, take the stairs instead of the elevator, or do some stretching while watching TV. The key is to get your body moving and incorporate physical activity into your daily life.

Tapping: Reduce stress and anxiety

Tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), is a powerful tool for reducing stress and anxiety and boosting your energy levels. It involves tapping on specific acupressure points while focusing on a particular issue or emotion.

To try tapping, start by identifying an issue or emotion that's causing you stress or anxiety. Then, tap on each of the acupressure points while repeating a positive affirmation or statement. For example, you might tap on the side of your hand while repeating the phrase, "Even though I'm feeling stressed, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

By combining tapping with positive affirmations, you can reduce stress and anxiety and feel more energized and focused.

The benefits of connecting with nature

Spending time in nature is another powerful way to boost your energy levels. Being outside in fresh air and sunshine can help reduce stress, improve your mood, and increase your overall sense of well-being.

Even if you don't have time for a long hike or outdoor adventure, try to incorporate some time in nature into your daily routine. You could take a walk during your lunch break, sit outside for a few minutes in the morning, or simply enjoy the view from a park bench.

Give: The power of kindness and generosity

Giving back to others is not only a powerful way to make a positive impact in the world, but it's also an effective way to boost your own energy levels. When we give to others, we feel a sense of purpose and connection, which can help reduce stress and improve our overall well-being.

There are many ways to give back, from volunteering at a local charity to donating to a cause you care about. Even small acts of kindness, like buying a coffee for a coworker or holding the door open for someone, can make a big difference in how you feel.

Sing: The therapeutic benefits of singing

Finally, singing is a powerful and therapeutic way to boost your energy levels. When we sing, we release endorphins and connect with our emotions, which can help reduce stress and improve our overall mood.

Singing stimulates the vagas nerve which can shift our bodies from 'fight or flight' back into 'rest and digest'. This kind of shift can not only regulate emotions, it can have powerful effects on a person's physiology.

  • Reduce blood pressure.

  • Lower your heart rate.

  • Reduce inflammation.

You don't have to be a great singer to benefit from this practice. You can sing in the shower, in your car, or even in a group setting like a choir or karaoke night. The key is to let go of any self-judgment and allow yourself to fully immerse in the experience of singing.

Putting it all together for a balanced and energized life

Incorporating these six energy-boosting practices into your daily routine can help you feel more energized, focused, and balanced. Whether you're focusing on your breath, getting your body moving, or giving back to others, each of these practices can make a big difference in how you feel.

So, take some time to try out these techniques and see what works best for you. With a little bit of practice and dedication, you can create a more balanced and energized life for yourself.
